The-Robber

Becoming a Robber is not all a piece of cake. First of all you need to get hold of a hideout outside of town. You can buy one every now and then but they are very expensive.
Maybe you should go for Thief first, training your employees and then take over a castle by force. Well, as soon as you have found a way to get possession of a hideout you can blackmail shop owners to collect protection money or waylay transports.
There is quite some money to be made that way. But do watch out for the Town Guards! You will likely end up on their list pretty soon, because at one point someone will talk...

The Robber (master titels)
1. Scoundrel (Robber Baron's Fortress)
2. Villain (Robber Baron's Fortress)
3. Footpad (Robber Baron's Fortress)
4. Highwayman (Robber Baron's Fortress)
5. Robber (Robber Baron's Fortress)
6. Robber Baron (Robber Baron's Fortress), +1AP

The most common way to owning a castle is a raid. Who wants to take up this job quickly should choose the Thief as his profession and then take over a castle.
Needless to say the most important thing for a Robber will be the fight but you should not underestimate Night & Mist. If you started out as a Thief you should master these skills already, otherwise build the needed rooms and improve your skills.

As new master of the castle you will first have to make your crew a good one. So employ all 8 workers and practise, practise, practise... then equip your Robbers with weapons such as Poisonous Dagger, Rapier or Pistol and send them to collect protection money.
An employee can do that very well on his own. The higher the level of the target, the higher the gain. The Robber will negotiate the length of the protection all by himself and show presence at his target until the "contract" will expire.
Then he will return to the castle and be available for new assignments.

Somewhat riskier is waylaying transports. You send out a troop of Robbers and they will survey the trade routes before choosing their target autonomously.
Depending on the quantity of escort you may loose one or the other employee, therefore only send fully trained Robbers and pull back injured employees in time.

Of course you can also attack all sort of military installations. This way you can for example usurp all castles, thieves' guilds and town guards one by one thus helping yourself to a monopoly of armed professions.
The competition can then be ruined very efficiently and quickly by performing regular official controls, collecting protection money and executing raids...
