the money lender

As a Money Lender you will have to provide a whole load of stated capital. Therefore we can offer this job only to citizens with another education who have proven their ability to handle money. Place some budget from your capital at your banks disposal. This money will be used to accommodate fellow citizens who are in dire need with a loan. Furthermore you can earn on foreign exchange business, but this means you will have to store reserves of different currencies or supply them using couriers.

Just a little hint: the bank business won't get high profits later in the game, especially if there are only few opposing dynasties left in your home city and the game has already proceeeded pretty far (>1450).
So if you want to become a banker you should be quick in opening your exchange office.

Loans will usually be taken early in order to get a kick start or during feuds when the participants run short of money (to finance sabotage and the like).
While bank profits tend to cease with the duration of a game, especially in games that are seemingly decided, you can make very good gains at the beginning. Several tests showed that request for loans is very high when you start your exchange office 10-15 years into the game.
On average you should be able to offer at least one loan per year. The stated capital of the bank will grow continuously and in about 10 years time 5-digit number loans will be taken.

Obviously it can be very recommendable to encourage disputes between dynasties by using Tirades of Hate or the Smell of Dissension. Ongoing feuds will produce problems in liquidity for the opponents and at the same guarantee rising profits for the banker.

At some point it will all cool down however, at the latest when the first dynasties start dieing out, and business will gradually become worse. Potential loans will be for quite large amounts of money, but they will be rare.

Therefore Money Lender rather seems to be an avocational job, although it can be fun to specialise on it for some time.

Nearly forgot: Level 3 (Bank) includes sort of SCHUFA*. With it you can gather info on the financial situation of your competition and see whether the wealth consists of cash or buildings.

A few numbers from a game that saw me built the money exchange office in 1407.
Year: Loan*interest rate*runtime=profit
1408: 3360*15%*6=3024
1408: 1692*9%*2=305
1410: 2250*9%*2=405
1410: 1875*15%*6=1688
1410: 703*12%*4=337
1413: 2118*12%*4=1017
1413: 1275*13%*5=829
1415: 5609*12%*4=2692
1416: 1465*9%*2=264
1416: 4716*15%*6=4244
1416: 1081*15%+6=973
1419: 4458*9%*2=802

...as you can tell business was going nicely! In other games I also had the best loans between 1420 and 1435, going hand in hand with my growing stated capital. Most loans were 5-digit numbers by then!

*The SCHUFA is a german association that stores information about the liquidity of persons. If you once get a mark, you won't be able to pay anything without cash...
