Short Guide to the Alchemist

Part 1 Herbs
The foundation of the alchemist starts with his/her ingredients. Herbs and later Creatures.
Herbs are collected from the area known as the woodlands (the place where you can also buy cheap lumber). Herbs it seems (ive tested this quite a bit and averaged the results) produce about evenly good yields in Spring, Summer, and Autumn and only really seem to produce poor yields in Winter.

Assigning more than one worker at a time does the expected, ie doubles the amount of herbs collected. This is mentioned because although it seems obvious, this is not the case with that later creatures, ie assigning more than worker to a single creature seems to have no effect.

Part 2 Creatures
Creatures are collected once you have a level 2 tinctury and have built the dungeon. Here you can assign your workers to collects either Toads Eyes, Bats Blood or Spider Legs. These are used in large quantaties once you upgrade as they are all needed for the Alchemists level 2 & 3 goods. Although catches vary it seems that the yield is as poor at any point of the year. Yields can vary from around 6 upto 14 or 15. I have yet to see higher yields than this but thats not to say its impossible.

Again as mentioned earlier if you are going to assign more than one person to collecting a single item DO NOT assign them together. If you want more than one person to collect the same item then leave a time gap. This will ensure that it counts as 2 seperate searches.

Items:
The English version contains the following items: Level 1: Paint, Endurance Drinks, Bombs. Level 2: Fausts Elixirs, Toad Slime. Level 3: Stink Bombs, Pot Grenades.

As for what to make its personal choice I guess. Early on my strategy was to have 1 man making Paint and the other 2 making Bombs. You can get a price of around 550 at the market for these if you stockpile and are willing to wait. If you do wait though be sure to escort your transport as a large stock of bombs is bound to attract the attension of the robbers and thieves.

Once I get to level 2 I tend to build another tinctury close to the woodlands areas. This one I can then use to continue making bombs and for the sole collection of herbs since its a short walk for collection. I then just transport the needed herbs to my first upgraded Alchemists Herb Shop.

I try to always be making 2 products. This way when one price is low the other is high enough to sell normally. Giving you a constant income. This goes for when I upgrade to last level as well. Although for the alchemist its quite a good idea to be constantly making Toad Slime, Stink Bombs & Pot Grenades. I would never advise to only to concentrate on 1 product once you pass level 1. This could leave you with long periods of no income while your single products price is low.

Misc:
This is not just to do with the alchemist it can be used with any of the trades. Firstly I recommend not allowing outsiders to buy stock straight from your warehouse. They tend to buy when the price is low and thus you loose out on the profit. Keep them in stock untill the price at the market is high and then sell them yourselves.

The price shown in your workshops is a combination of the market prices as follows:
Price in workshop = (Buy price at market + Sell price at market) / 2
