The Market
The prices at the market can vary a lot, giving astute dealers a chance to make a lot of money.
In extreme cases, you can sell something and 2 rounds later the price will have trebled itself!
IŽve made a table for all production jobs (those who sell at the market) with prices and other information - youŽll find them with on the site for each job.
The prices are based on a "standard price", provided by the play, or an average price. The market prices usually lie approximately within a range from:
60% < Normal Price < 180%
For example, this is my observations about the price of silver rings:
min. 80 gold < Normal 140 Gold < Top Price 250 Gold
You will rarely see extreme prices, but you should be careful to avoid selling for low prices, for example don't sell silver rings for under 140 gold.
Maybe once in a hundred years the price will go over, say, 250, but the normal sales range should lie between 200 and 250 pieces of gold.
It depends on how much money is going around and the supply of the product. You should have a good collection of stock, so you always have some that can be shipped off when the prices go abnormally high. Only sell products at average or below prices if you really need the money.
With raw materials and intermediate products (products that are manufactured rather than grow/mined/cut etc, but that are not ready for consumers, eg. Ethanol) it is similar, but I get the feeling that these tend to fluctuate less, particularly rarely going significantly under the standard price.
A good alternative is to purchase the goods in the surrounding countryside businesses, since the raw materials there are usually in larger numbers and cheaper. If you do this, you should use a horse drawn cart as it's faster and it can carry 5 times the amount that the first hand cart can. I buy horse carts very early anyway - the hand versions are simply too slow!
APs - Action Points
Many actions, like using certain privileges or improving talents, cost Action Points, or APs. At the beginning of play, you get 4 APs per day/season/round.
Therefore, you can improve an important talent like handicraft, thus increasing the productivity of your business (since, among other things, on the handicraft skill of the owner).
The APs should be used at the beginning for job-specific talents and for getting more Master's Grades.
In order to receive regular additional APs, you can extend your buildings. The first addition for your house which will give you additional APs is the Portal.
Later, if you have a fully developed Palazzo, there are many extra points available if you build all the available extensions. Beside the APs for buildings, there is also a bonus AP per Round when you get 6 Master Grade's in one profession.
Eventually, you should find that you get many APs per round. At the beginning, you can fill up the AP account with various aids. For example, using the walking stick will provide you with an additional AP each round for the duration of 4 turns, or an endurance drink will give you 2 additional APs...
Inventory
If you're wondering how to use rings, chains or walking sticks, or how to give toys to your children, here's the answer.
The key to all usable articles is the purse, or inventory bag. You can put up to 6 different types of items here, with up to 3 of each type.
You can add things to your inventory bag with the transportation menu. Click on the small bag at the right hand side of the menu and the purse should appear.
As with a cart, you can click-n-drag items into these slots. You can only load goods that are usable - you can't load products just to unload them into your business's storeroom!
To use an article from the inventory bag, simply click on the bag at the bottom of the navigation menu. Then click on the item in the bag and you will see a description.
Decide if you definitely want to use this article and click on the use option. With some items, you then have to select further options, like if you select a toy, you have to choose a child to give it to.
The complete list of items and use is here: Usable Items
